Change a mermaid to a trumpet?

Anonymous, on August 18, 2010 at 9:38 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 2

I picked my dress two weeks ago, and I was so excited about it...but now I'm starting to freak myself out a bit and I'm worried it might not be exactly what I want! I was looking for a trumpet gown (flares out just below the hips), and when I bought my dress the salon said it was a trumpet, but the more I look at it, the more it looks like a mermaid (flares out at the knee). Has anyone ever bought a mermaid dress and had it altered to look more like a trumpet? I don't even know if that's possible! And even if it is, I don't want to pay a fortune to let it out more.

I have to get measured for my dress on Saturday, so I get to try it on again. I'm hoping once I put it on I will love it just the way it is and get over this whole trumpet thing :-)

Update, in case anyone else runs into the same issue I did. I went to the salon to get measured on Saturday, and they said they can cut the fabric so that it flares out higher. Crisis averted! Smiley smile
