Champagne/ivory or Ivory/ivory

Anna, on May 17, 2019 at 3:11 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 18

I'm driving myself crazy overanalyzing the "colour" of my dress. Always thought I would have ivory/ivory but the dress i LOVE was only in champagne/ivory in the store. I do really like how it makes the lace/florals pop. Did anyone else find themselves struggling with this decision? Am I safer going ivory/ivory even without having ever seen it? Or is it risky to order something different from the one I fell in love with? Any suggestions/experiences/photos would be helpful. Thanks all

LOVE LOVE LOVE your dress Smiley love Champagne is so in these days, and i think it really works with your dress! I always thought i would have a white dress but I bought mine in a "meil" color (basically just champagne LOL) and it works so much better with my pasty A$$ skin tone Smiley xd . I guess its all preference and what feel your going for I think for a more formal/elegant wedding go ivory/ivory but for more of a rustic/romantic look go champagne/ivory

I struggled with a similar decision. My dress I tried on was moscato/ivory and I really went back and forth on if I wanted so much color in my dress or if I should get ivory/ivory. I Googled the dress in the ivory/ivory color and while it was hard to find, I did find a few photos of it. Ultimately I decided on moscato/ivory because part of what I loved about the dress were the details and I just didn't think they'd show up as well in all one color.

Simply STUNNING! And it is such a soft champagne/moscato that it works.... if you have fallen in love with it- get it!
With that said, go try on something similar in all ivory and if you don’t get that “Oh I don’t want take you off” feeling from it- go back and get the dress in the picture!

I struggled with this as well but in the end, I decided that the ivory lace details standing out against the champagne underlay were what I really loved about the dress! I saw pictures of my dress in ivory/ivory and those ivory lace details just faded into the ivory underlay. Here's a picture of my dress in champagne/ivory!

    I love your dress!

Ivory/ivory may look more bridal to you but the dress details won’t pop like they do with a two-tone color. If you like the dress you tried on (for the color of the dress and way it looks on your skin tone), then get the one you tried on!

I struggled with this exact decision. I always knew I wanted ivory/ivory but the dress I fell in love with (and almost all the samples I tried) were moscato/ivory or champagne/ivory. I ultimately went with ivory/ivory because that’s what I always wanted and I feel my lace detailing is just as beautiful. Here are pictures of both to help you visualize.

I think we are dress twins! I went with the moscato because I think it went better with my skin tone, but the ivory/ivory looks fantastic on you!

Oh my goodness, we ARE dress twins! Essence of Australia D2327. And my wedding is just 7 weeks after yours. Have you started alterations yet? Mine just needs to be hemmed and bustled and I’m going to add layers of crinoline underneath to make the skirt fuller. I’ve only tried it on once since it arrived, but I did notice that the sleeves kept wanting to sit on top of my shoulder instead of off the shoulder. Not sure if alterations can fix that or maybe fabric tape?

I tried my dress on in blush and ended up ordering it in white. I haven't seen it yet, so I'm sooo anxious about it. I have no idea what the designer is so I can't even find pictures of it in white.

Beautiful! (I’m a little partial though since my dress is ivory/champagne lol). I think having the two shades makes the details pop

If you really want the white/ivory effect, go for that. If you just *think* you want that effect because it's what you always imagined but already love the dress as is, go for the color.

I did the opposite of your situation - tried on ivory on ivory, saw a swatch in a blush tone the dress was offered in, and went with the blush. I always thought I wanted the traditional white dress but when I had tried on other blush/colored dresses and I really loved the way it made the lace pop and how the color looked against my skin. It was stressful ordering a dress in a color I hadn't seen it in but when I got it I loved it and have no regrets.

    Go with your gut.

Editing to add - that dress looks amazing on you and I think you'll look gorgeous in either option.

My dress originally had a blush under tone on the skirt but I ended up purchasing ivory/ivory because my mom didn't love the color "a wedding dress should be white". She was paying for it and I am not a dress/fashion person so I just kind of went along with it. I got it back in March and although the lace detail is a bit more sutble, you can definitely still see it. I think the dress as is looks amazing thought!

I never thought of champagne ivory until I tried on my dress. I fell in love. The lace pops so much. I think it's so much prettier.

Thanks everyone so much for sharing! I am going to try it on during the daytime this weekend (was during the evening last time) to get a full feel for the champagne "colour". I think that will seal my decision.
