Champagne with ivory lace freak out

Rebecca, on September 9, 2019 at 12:53 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 2 27
Girls! I am in crisis mode. I purchased my dress a few weeks ago. It was a floor sample, so there’s no changing at all now. Let’s start with I LOVE the dress, just concerned about the color now. I am really pale complexion and thought the champagne dress with ivory lace would be great for me to not look too washed out in white/all ivory. But now I’m concerned it’s too dark, and not bridal enough! Am I over reacting? I don’t know what to do!

My dress is champagne with ivory lace and I absolutely love it!! I have darker skin and really love how it compliments me. I'm not sure how it looks on pale skin, but there has to be a reason why you loved it. Do you have a photo of the dress?

Champagne with ivory lace is VERY common these days and definitely still looks bridal. My dress was technically champagne/ivory and I 100% felt like a bride. True white is super unflattering on most people, you picked a great color for your skin tone!

I have a champagne dress and ivory veil. I think it’s plenty bridal enough! Especially since white makes me pale too so I feel you. The dress is gorgeous. You picked it for a reason too so stop doubting. As long as you feel beautiful, the dress can be bright pink, it’s all about you

Noooo I think it will be beautiful b I was set on WHITE abut ended up getting a blush dress with white lace covering it! Never would I ever have imaged me in it lol but I love it and just knew it was the one . I think you will look beautiful in it ! You won’t look washed out especially with makeup/lighting, I wouldn’t stress it too much!

So in some photos it looks fine but in others I hate the color. I understand lighting makes a big difference but what if the lighting on the day is awful and the dress looks bad?

That’s gorgeous! I feel like mine looks darker, I don’t know. In some pictures it’s better than others.

So here it is on me, and a close up showing the color that I’m starting to hate (didn’t need my boobs in everyone’s face) haha. And then the stock photo from the website in the same ivory over champagne . I LOVE the dress, just not the color.

Think of the champagne drawing out the detail in the lace... You would lose that in all one shade - either white or ivory. You can also self-tan and be 'less' pale. Trust me, I've been told that vampires are more darkly complected than me. This is stunning! Please, don't worry and when you do remind yourself to focus on the gorgeous lace! Smiley heart

I think it's beautiful and definitely bridal. I agree with pp that it brings out the lace detail. "White" comes in many shades, and I think champagne has entered bridal canon along with white, ivory, cream, light gold, nude underlay with white/ivory lace.

That dress is as bridal as they come. Where else would you wear it except for to your own wedding? I also agree with Laura that the champagne color does a great job of showcasing the lace detail. It is a beautiful dress and definitely very bridal!

Your dress is gorgeous! I do understand your fears, as I had the same ones because my dress is ivory lace over champagne, but you're going to look amazing. As PPs have said, the champagne underlay makes the lace totally pop! As you said in your original post, you know that lighting is going to make a huge difference, and it is. You just need to remind yourself of that when you look at your pictures. Plus, think about how professional photography is so different from pictures off your phone. Here's a couple of pictures of my dress for reference. The first is a pic off my phone, and the others are professional photos. My dress looked so much lighter in the professional pictures.

Champagne is just as bridal as ivory nowadays. Popular colors are champagne, gold and blush. Tons of people look ill in white or ivory, myself included. Too pale!

Yes, you are over reacting. You are gonna be a beautiful bride! There are so many brides that choose to not do white on their wedding day. The first dress I bought was pink! Although I loved it, the alterations were gonna be way too much so I opted for a simpler, no alterations needed white dress but if that pink dress would have worked, girl I would be rocking that pink wedding dress lol. If you love it, that is all that matters. Your dress is stunning btw.

Thank you so much! That helped a lot! I’m just fearful that it’s not the typical “bridal white” even though that’s not even so typical snymore
