Champagne Toast

Megan, on August 12, 2019 at 8:11 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 12

Looking for recommendations on an affordable champagne for the toast. Our venue handles all of the alcohol except for that. We are having 400 people at our wedding so we would really like to find one that isn't insanely expensive.

Highly recommend VERDI. It's an italian champagne. Goes down super smooth and has sweet undertones. My fiance HATES champagne and even he loved it lol. We went to our food tasting 2 weeks ago and this is what they offered. I loved it so much I went out and bought it for a party we were going to and the biggest bottle they had was about $10.

Instead of finding a champagne you can look for a sparkling white wine like Cava or Prosecco. I really like Freixenet, Segura Viudas, La Marca, or Lunetta.

You can get Kirkland brand Prosecco at Costco for about $10.

Sorry, no recommendations. However, if you're looking to save money, you could consider foregoing champagne completely and everyone can toast with whatever drink they have in hand.

Switch to prosecco or cava instead! If there's a Total Wine or similar large discount store in your area, go in and ask a consultant if they have any recommendations for a nice sparkling wine that's about $10/bottle.

We're doing the same thing. Our venue recommended against it as well because not everyone takes a glass or doesn't drink anyways.

Agree with this. My venue charges like $4-5 per glass for champagne so we are foregoing it for everyone else; they can use the drink they have. Hopefully/they better just give FH & myself our glasses of champagne free of charge cuz that's ridiculous.

This is what we did! We had a champagne toast for the head table (that was a surprise...we didn't know our venue offered that until the bottle was passed around haha). I've never been to a wedding where everyone participated in the champagne toast, people usually just toast with whatever they're already drinking.

I would just let people toast with whatever they are drinking and forget about the separate champagne toast if it is not included. SOO many people don't like champagne and most weddings i've seen this at, over half the glasses don't get drunk anyway. I would just skip it - no one will care!

I agree with this. A lot of people don’t like champagne and won’t end up drinking it anyway. My venue and caterer both highly recommended that we don’t do one (FMIL really wanted it) because it’s hundreds of dollars down the drain. People will already have a drink in their hand, they can (and probably will anyway) toast with that.

We skipped the champagne and just toasted with what people were drinking. So many weddings I’ve been to the champagne is wasted and I opted to put that money towards something else my guests would enjoy

Especially with 400 people I would forego the champagne toast, people can toast with the drink they have in their hand
