Champagne at Bridal shop

Heather, on September 18, 2019 at 4:52 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 19

I have no idea why but I have always dreamed of trying on wedding dresses while drinking champagne. Is that even a thing? haha

I think it depends on the shop. I wish it had been a thing at David's Bridal when I went!!

Often times boutiques will offer champagne. That's also probably because you are paying more for the dresses there but the experience of trying on dresses in bridal shops are far better than somewhere like Davids Bridal or any other large chain store.

Yes it’s a thing, but not all allow it. Some forbid any and all food/drinks, while others may even offer it to you. I would call ahead and ask. If they’re ok with it, bring on the bubbly!! 🥂🍾

Some places do, but for me I wanted to stay hydrated by drinking water. Trying on dresses is very tiring and you will most likely get thirsty because of all that fabric. A lot of salons offered water bottles but bring your own just in case.

I didn’t run into it anywhere which was sad given the phantasy but made sense given how careful all the shops were with their dresses! Made me realize how surprising the idea is where so many places don’t even want people touching the dresses...let alone with liquids in hand (and on top of that, non-clear liquids that have a way of making people clumsy 🤣)

Yup! It’s a thing at some boutique bridal shops (not David’s)! Bring a bottle of water too though. Many don’t offer water and you do get dehydrated

My bridal salon did not allow food or drink (worried about spills on a dress!) except their complimentary bottles of water.

I went to three salons, none of them offered champagne. I did go back to buy accessories after though and they had a small event going on so they had champagne and cupcakes then.

I bought my dress during a trunk show and they offered my and me wine while I shopped and tried on dresses. Once I said yes to the dress they gave me a bottle of champagne to take home. I'm still not sure when I want to open it- definitely something special for FH and I.

Yes! My mother and I were offered champagne at Pronovias in Boston, after I chose my dress.

It totally depends. Boutiques with more expensive dresses may offer champagne, or they may celebrate with champagne when you actually pick out a dress (in other words, the champagne only comes out when your credit card comes out). Some may give you drinks while you shop (often in hopes that you will be more likely to purchase that way).

There may be laws in some places that prohibit serving alcohol in stores that aren't specifically licensed to do so. I'm in NH, and my hair salon offers drinks when you get your hair cut, but they can only do that because they aren't charging you for them (they are however, charging you for a hair cut and you better believe the cuts cost a bit more than they would if there were no drinks involved). If they charged you for drinks, they'd need a liquor license, but they don't need one to give out alcohol for free.
