Chair Cover Alternatives

Samantha, on May 17, 2019 at 2:27 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 15
So my venue offers the standard burgundy banquet chairs for the reception with chair covers as an additional price, as well as different styled chairs. Unfortunately none of the options are in budget nor do I see the reason for such high prices. (1 white chair cover with no sash is an additional $4 per chair!!!!!)
Thankfully the burgundy color with gold slightly ties into my colors but I still don't like them! What's a cheap and classy way to dress up with chairs without breaking the bank!!!!

Side note colors are wisteria, Dusty blue, sage, and Dusty rose. Think succulent colors!

Wish.com has a lot of options for chair covers that are pretty cheap. If it's still not in budget you can always do a piece of tulle or fabric that matches your colors through the hole/handle of the chair and drape down the back.

I feel your pain. I hate the chairs for my wedding. They are gold and brown neither of which are wedding colors. To get different chairs or chair covers my venue charges $8 per chair which is crazy. My decorator would gladly get us different chairs or chair covers for much less, but our venue won't let us. Will your venue allow to you rent chairs from somewhere else or get chair covers from somewhere else?

go to fb market place and type in chair covers there are alot of places that like to sell chair covers for $1 each.... a lot of brides buy them and sell them after the reception and make their money back just like that... should look into it.

Could try a simple spandex chair sash/band. Usually $1 or less and quick to put on. Dusty blue or Dusty sage would compliment the chairs nicely.

I know chair colors and carpet colors are a big concern for many brides, but I can honestly only remember the chair colors or carpet colors from 1 of the past 7 weddings I've been to and that was because the bride told me the chair covers were extra, and for the carpet one of the guests was shedding glitter all over it. My point is, I would try not to stress about it too much if it's not within budget. Perhaps ask your photog to only get pics of the tops of the tables if its a worry. If you are convinced that something must be done, try a satin ribbon in a small, simple bow at the top of the chair. Trying to add too much to the chairs in the way of tulle or ribbons, etc. may inadvertently call attention to the chairs, which is the OPPOSITE of what you want. Alternatively, could you use colored napkins that are in theme to draw the eye elsewhere, away from the chairs?

I agree with PP, try wish. I would also say, if it's not in your budget I wouldn't fret too much. I have never given the chairs a single thought at any wedding I have been to, ugly or pretty, it's just not something most people notice.

Also, once people are sitting in the chairs, it's hardly noticeable at all. Best wishes!

I was thinking of the tulle idea! My bridesmaid "dresses" are actually tulle skirts so it'll blend in style wise

The venue does allow us color napkins with the base price so that's a good idea!

I agree with another post - Facebook Marketplace is where I found some linens I needed for a party. Cheap. Or there are FB wedding resale pages. And then you can resell them again after you're finished
