Chain Salon Up-do

Ally, on February 24, 2020 at 11:15 AM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 5

I'm on a tight budget and I'm thinking about just having a chain such as Great Clips, Holiday Hair, Supercuts, etc. do my hair and my bridal party's hair (if they're interested).

Has anyone ever had their hair styled at a chain salon? If so, which salon did you choose and how much did it cost? Were you happy with the results?

I'm wanting to get something like this done.

Mine wasn’t a chain salon, but it was my regular old hairdresser. I went in for a haircut, asked if they did updos, and went all in. I was really happy with my experience. I didn’t want anything crazy (actually went in with similar inspo pics to yours), but just really wanted someone to do it for me , haha. I had a perfectly pleasant experience and was happy with the style. Everyone at the salon was super sweet and excited so it was a fun, relaxing experience before heading to the venue.

I went to a hair dresser at a salon. The one thing I must say is if you don’t have an appointment you really need to go early in case if it’s popular

I've never been to salons like great clips, sports cuts, cost cutters, etc. but my husband used to go. It was so on & off if the haircut was good or not because turnover was super high and you never knew what you were getting. However, that's how it is in a normal salon too. I'd do research and read reviews to see if other people have had good experiences with them.

Not for her wedding, but when she was still a college student daughter went to a Super-cuts or something similar the day they were attending a wedding to have her hair trimmed, blown out and curled/styled. She was overdue for a trim anyway and figured it was good timing.... It looked nice enough (nothing special that she couldn't have done herself). But, daughter was very surprised at how much it cost so I'd be sure you know exactly what they'll charge you (they tend to charge for each service -- wash, blow-out, style, etc., so it added up quick; I think she was charged around a $100 for very so-so work). It might not be as inexpensive as you're hoping, and like pps have said you'll have to deal with the uncertainties of scheduling and getting someone without much experience. I'd definitely comparison shop by talking with stylists at more established non-chain salons and see what they can offer.

I've had up-dos at chain salons a few times for events. And I'm planning on using my venue's attached spa/beauty salon for my hair/makeup for the wedding. I got a bridal package with them that includes a hair/make up trial and getting my nails done on the day of as well for about $300, and includes a 10% discount for any of my BMs who also book services for themselves (only a few of them decided to do so for either hair or make up).
