Certain months are cheaper?

Gina, on April 22, 2017 at 9:11 PM Posted in Planning 0 15

What makes certain months cheaper? Does that mean the venue's have better deals? Sorry I'm new to this. Still trying to pick a perfect date!

Certain months are more popular for weddings. A lot of venues will offer a cheaper rate for "off season" months or even "off peak" days if you're up for a weeknight wedding.

Not sure where you are located, but in my area, I believe wedding season is April through October. So typically prices will be a little less expensive during the winter months. People like to get married in the nicer, warmer weather, which makes those months more popular.

Thanks everyone! The venue I was looking into said that Friday or Sunday would be like$5,000 cheaper than a Saturday which I wanted, but I'm now just going to look for the perfect Friday date Smiley smile But I was curious if the month would effect the price too, so thank you! I'll probably message the woman and ask her for that venueSmiley smile

Weirdly, where I'm from April isn't always considered wedding season. So I saved over $10 per person by having my date in April. It all just depends!

My wedding venue is >$5k cheaper since we are getting married in November not October.

For us other vendors are not necessarily cheaper but more available and flexible with requests!

Nov-March is off season due to weather and holidays. My venue has 3 different seasons prices. The cheapest months are from nov-jan due to cold weather and holidays i think the price difference is something like $60 pp than in the on season months. Spring/summer tend to be the priciest.

It definitely depends where you live and the venue itself. After touring maybe 10 venues some considered May-October Peak Season and others just considered months like January and February off peak. When you visit venues just ask them when their off peak season is. Usually during off-peak season venues give discounts since they have more flexibility.

For us peak season is May-October, mid season is November and April, winter months are December-February. This means that venues fees are less, price per person less and the minimums for ballrooms goes down too.

The only issue is that the times when there are lower rates tend to be the times when either a) it is inconvenient for guests, or b) the weather is bad. My son managed to get lucky and schedule his wedding for the very end of March, when he got the better rates but they had nice spring weather. But you do have to be a bit cautious. Getting great rates for January is nice, but only if you don't end up with the whole event snowed out, for example.

Also, typically Friday events will be less all around. Most vendors charge less for Friday and Sunday's.......outside holiday weekends.

Off season months are cheaper because they have less brides then

And friday is cheaper than a sat wedding.

Where I'm at I got 40% with our wedding in May- considered "off season". So we went with the last weekend!

PPs hit the nail on the head -- peak season is often contingent on your location, but generally speaking it is November through March. The off days are pretty much anything that's not a Saturday (we got a discount for opting for a Sunday wedding).

Also keep in mind that until you book your venue, your date isn't "set". If you're heart set on a specific date, you need to get your deposit in ASAP.

Summer months are more expensive. For my venue this is may-august (hence my date). Fridays and Sundays are also cheaper.

Will depend by your location. At my location, here in Florida at my venue off seasons are Jan.-April & July-August. Peak season is May-June & Sept-Dec. So definitely talk to your vendor about their off season
