Hey wedding planning friends. I am planning a wedding in the US in South Mississippi on October 16th, 2021 and I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on a good time to get started? We are having the ceremony outside and I would love it if our pictures after the ceremony (of just me and my fiance) were taken during the golden hour. I do not believe that our ceremony would take any longer than 20-30 minutes so what are your suggestions?

Check what time the sun will likely set in that area, I’m getting married October 30, 2022 in Illinois. My ceremony is starting at 2pm, I think the sun will be setting like 5:45 around me. My ceremony is on a Sunday so i don’t want to start too late. You can google it, will give you the best estimate

Google shows sunset here to be at 6:24pm. So I would want to take pics starting about 30 minutes prior to the sun setting. So maybe a 5:30 ceremony or does that sound too late and like it would be pushing it?

You can always sneak away and take more pictures while your guests are dancing and socializing. 5:30 seems kinda late, especially if you’re having a cocktail hour and then your dinner won’t be until like 7 and idk how long people will stay. I personally don’t stay at weddings all night

Yes, our photographer is stealing us away before sunset to take some golden hour pics. I don’t think you need to plan your ceremony time around the sunset time. Especially if you’re serving dinner, people will be very hungry if you start that late.
