Ceremony Time

Alex, on May 24, 2020 at 6:26 PM Posted in Arizona Planning 0 1
Hey there! Hoping some locals may be able to help me... We are planning a small destination wedding ceremony at the base of cathedral rock for May 15, 2021. After the ceremony we plan to do the hike to the top with our photographer for some great sunset couples pictures. What time would you recommend starting the ceremony in order to get the best lighting for both ceremony and couples pictures?

Hi Alex! Has your photographer done sunset shoots before? They'll have the best advice about how to plan around expected sundown times! For example - a lot of the sunset shooting tips come down to technical photography elements like shutter speed, underexposure, composition, etc.

From there creating your timeline is just about working backwards! Start with the expected sundown, then check when your photographer wants to start shooting, and work backwards to add in buffer time to hike up cathedral rock (and for your photographer to get set up again).
