Ceremony time and sunset in Nov

Jalina, on May 30, 2016 at 5:28 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

I am getting married Nov. 12 a week after we turn our clocks back. I'm trying to figure out when to get married. I want outdoor pictures but I also don't want to start my reception super early. My ceremony will only be 30 min. Does anyone have any experience with getting married after we change the clocks and when the sun sets? I was thinking of getting married from 3:30-4:00 then go somewhere for pictures until 5. Will I still have day light left?

I'm getting married on Oct 28th and I searched sunset times on the said date and used my zip code on Bing.com that's just the search engine I use

ETA: here's the site I found. You can type in your zip and then choose the date http://www.calendar-updates.com/sun.asp

You can google sunset times. You'll need some time before sunset by about an hour.

I believe weather.com shows you sunset times. You have to find the monthly calendar. Now keep in mind the time of sunset is only when the sun is halfway below the horizon (sunrise time is when the sun is halfway above the horizon). So there will still be a smidgen of daylight left after official "sunset."

Google "sunset time November 12, 2016 + wedding city" and you'll know the exact sunset time. It will be around 5pm depending on proximity to the ocean/mountains, and it will be completely dark about 20min after sunset. I think your plan works well.

This is why we are doing our photos beforehand because we are worried about lighting too. Our wedding starts at 5 and the sun will set around 5:30/6. We will just have to make sure to be on schedule when getting ready.

Ask your photographer how much time s/he prefers between the end of the ceremony and sunset.

Hi Jalina. Besides time and sunset you will also need to take into account the landscape of where your outdoor pics will be. If it's in a valley or there are a lot of trees your "sunset" will be earlier. I would work closely with your photographer regarding timing. The sun is something no one can control so a plan of action will need to be made and adhered to. Hopefully your photographer knows the location or would be willing to scout it out beforehand.
