Ceremony sites in Westchester County, NY?

Rochelle, on October 4, 2017 at 9:15 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

Hi all,

Recently engaged and first time WW poster! I’m in a bit of a predicament – I don’t know where to have my wedding ceremony. Our venue is set, 9/2/18 at a new venue right on the Hudson River in Irvington, NY.

My FI and I are not religious so we do not want to be married in a church, which leaves us looking for a “space”. We’d prefer outdoor, but not sure how we’d approach a practical rain back-up.

We’d ideally like to find something along the Hudson River as well, but would be open to a location further in the county as well.

Any parks/gardens/outdoor spaces that anyone can think of that allows wedding ceremonies, either in general and/or without the reception being held there?

TIA!

I'm confused. You said you have a date set; doesn't that mean you have a venue?

I would ask your venue. They will probably have a spot outside that can be set up for a ceremony or they could refer you to a nice place.

I believe Manhattanville College (in Purchase, NY) has outdoor and indoor space available. They have a gorgeous castle, yes literally a castle, on the campus.

ETA: They also do have experience with hosting weddings and other large events.

Yes, I have a venue. Unfortunately, the venue does not have any other space that would hold a ceremony – the only space is where the reception will be held, which is why I’m only in need of a site for the ceremony.

Thanks, BeachDreams! I’ve been in the Manhattanville campus before and it is really beautiful. Completely forgot about it, so I appreciate the reminder!

I like Ridge Road park in Hartsdale. Very pretty, parking, you can rent for a low fee a pavillion with a cover in case it rains, and has real bathrooms.

I like Hudson River Scenic park, but no paivllions.

Thank you, Karen! I've heard of it before but I've never been. I will check that out!

Thanks Ro, It does not allow alcohol, but i dont think for the ceremony, that should matter. You could set up carafes of water and ice tea or lemonade.

Haha, no no, don't need to start drinking that early! Very cute idea with the iced tea and lemonade though!

Untermyer in Yonkers has a pavilion spot overlooking the Hudson. There's also the the Peekskill waterside area, just past the train station. ETA: just reread your post, Yonkers and Irvington are fairly close, so that may be a nice one!
