Ceremony seating dilemma

I F, on February 18, 2023 at 9:28 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 14
Hello,
So the venue I'm doing the reception at charges 1,000 fee just to do the half hour ceremony. We have 5 hours for the whole wedding package we picked. The venue said we don't have to do the ceremony with the setup of chairs etc and that we can just have it diy style with the guests coming and sitting in their seats by the table. The ceremony would be in the same room as the reception. I asked my fiance if it would be weird that everyone looks from their tables while we do the ceremony within that 5hr time slot literally on the dance floor. No chairs. I'm trying to figure out how to make this work. After that a one hour cocktail hour would follow. We are on a budget and think it's ridiculous to pay 1k for a half hour when we can do the vows in the same room. How would this work with guests coming and not making it look tacky? Anyone ever seen this before? Thanks!

Does the venue have photos of people watching the ceremony from their seats? I'd ask them for some pictures to compare. Or could stalk their social media and ask past brides.

I have seen a few photos on pinterest of people at tables for the ceremony. It doesn't look the best but as long as you're happy that's what matters. I'd try and link the photos but I never works for me. 🙄

You’re so welcome :-) I think there are definitely ways to make this work, and still not look bad! And your guests aren’t going to care either way – as long as they have someplace to sit during the ceremony, they will be fine.

We went to a wedding and the ceremony was supposed to be outside at a lake/gazebo, but suddenly out of the blue it started to rain. They quickly transformed the reception area(held in building next to the gazebo) so they could also hold ceremony there. It was just as lovely!

$1000 extra is ridiculous. What are the included perks to justify the price? Set people up at round tables in the reception area and have your ceremony there. If A list celebrities can do that for awards shows with no issues, the average person can do it for a wedding.

The 1,000 dollar is just to set up chairs and prob the runner on the floor. The set up and take down. That's it. Nothing else.

Our venue was like this also. We had to pay an additional $1500 for 30 mins in the ceremony space 🙄

That is highway robbery but they know that people will pay it without blinking an eye. Even minimum wage labor for the setup and tear down doesn’t add up to that much.

We are doing this. We will have long rectangular tables around the dance floor at the restaurant. We will set up the chairs at the tables but facing the dance floor where we're getting married so people don't have to sit with their backs to us and crane their necks around. We will have a brief ceremony then a cocktail hour. When they go back to their seats they can flip the chairs around to face the table.
