Ceremony runner

Gianna, on April 25, 2020 at 9:56 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 13

We are getting married on grass in a garden and I really don't want to put a runner down the isle. Is it weird to just have everyone walk on the grass? I don't plan on wearing heels and don't really want my bridesmaids to be wearing them either..

I think it’s totally fine, but I would make sure that guests know the ceremony will be on grass so they can wear appropriate shoes. Or you could provide heel stoppers for those wearing heels.

I did that! I had an aisle runner but it didn’t work out on the day of so we just let it be as is and it was fine just as grass. But I do wanna say that one of my bridesmaid said when she walked down the aisle there was a point her heel did sink down in the grass and got caught

We got married outside on the grass and my coordinator recommended NOT getting a runner because they're slippery on the grass, so people are more likely to trip/slip/fall (including yours truly, Queen Klutz lol). No one missed it. We just included the venue information on our website and that people would be walking on the grass.

Yah I figured that would happen! We most likely won’t be wearing heels but guests might be. I’ll be sure to tell guests though! Thank you so much!

I wouldn't have either, so I was glad that the coordinator mentioned it when I brought up a runner

I think it’s totally fine. I would put on your website or details card a note mentioning that you recommend not wearing heels.

Most places don't recommend putting a runner on grass because it becomes a tripping hazard. Just make sure people know you are getting married on a lawn and wear appropriate shoes.

I’ve seen runners used outdoors, they tend to get very messy and heels do get caught on it.
We’re gmhaving an outdoor ceremony in a grassy area and are not having a runner.

Hi! I am doing the same as you, walking on grass in a field. I am adamant on trying to keep my dress as clean as possible for as long as possible, I know it will get dirty lol. My fiancé and I found 6” by 12” faux grass rugs at Ollies for $28 a piece and bought 4. I’m going to duct tape them together and make a giant runner. Long nails will keep it in place. I think it will blend pretty well with the natural grass as it is a mid tone green, not a bright green. Hope this helps!!
