Ceremony programs

Jade, on October 27, 2019 at 1:54 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 8
I have read a lot of posts about ceremony programs not being necessary and I agree that they aren’t for short ceremonies. I am having a Catholic ceremony, so it’ll be about an hour long. Do you think it’d be beneficial for there to be programs since the ceremony will be so long?

Yes I would do them for a long ceremony. I’m doing programs just because I think they’re super pretty and special to us.

It’s up to you, I’ve been to a catholic ceremony and even my Jewish husband who had never been to a catholic mass didn’t have issues following what was happening. So if it’s in the budget then go for it but if not don’t worry.

Our ceremony at most 30 minutes, but we had programs because I wanted them. My husband didn't really care either way. We had infographic ones rather than the traditional programs. I found them on Etsy and loved them. We also only spent like $70 on 100 of them so I thought that was pretty good. I bought the template off Etsy and had them printed at Office Depot. It was easy and I thought they were perfect.

We didn't do programs and here's why. they get thrown away. nobody keeps them, and most people can figure out how a wedding goes. it just felt like a waste to me so i said no. if you decide to do them i would say go to Etsy and print them yourself, don't spend a fortune on paper.

I think it's beneficial for certain aspects such as if you've an outdoor ceremony it could be used as a fan, or if you've a bilingual ceremony or if it's long

We had ceremony programs for our nuptial mass because we wanted the congregation to join us for hymns, so we put the music in the programs so people weren't thumbing through hymnals. I think this is a "know your crowd" scenario. If you have a lot of non-Catholic people attending, a ceremony program that explains the aspects of the mass, includes the text of the readings, and provides gentle instructions for when to stand, sit, and kneel would probably be very helpful. If almost all of your guests are Catholic, this may not be necessary.
