Ceremony Processional

Karli, on September 22, 2017 at 2:28 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

I am having the hardest time planning the ceremony processional and getting music together. I'm sure I'm probably way over thinking it. What are some ideas, or how did you do yours? We have 4 groomsmen, and 4 bridesmaids, a ring bearer, and flower girl. We both want our mom's escorted down the aisle to their seats. Is seating the mom's considered part of the processional? What order did you have everyone walk? What songs did you use? Thanks! And sorry for all the questions lol.

Thank you Claudia! I have googled and youtubed so many songs my brain is about to explode. I have a few picked out, I'm just not sure if they work or seem appropriate. I've had my song picked for months. I'm just struggling with everyone else lol.

My officiant stood up front. My husband escorted his mom in, father-in-law escorted his mom (husbands grandma in) and two of our groomsmen escorted my grandmas in and then came back. Groomsmen and bridesmaids walked down together, and then both my parents walked with meSmiley smile

Not sure this will be helpful to you, but we had our officiant go down the aisle first, then the 4 groomsmen one at a time, then H with his dad, then the two bridesmaids one at a time, then the man of honor, and finally me with my parents. We used the Vitamin String Quartet version of Little Talks by Of Monsters and Men.

I finally just finalized this today. We are having our grandparents in the processional. Followed by his parents, then the bridesmaids, ring bearers, and flower girls. My mom and dad are both walking me down the aisle. For the seating of the parents and entrance of the groomsman I just did Canon in D because trying to pick music was making my brain hurt. Bridesmaids are walking to The Piano Guys cover of Just the way you are (Bruno Mars) and I'm walking to a mashup cover of Army/Love me like you do (Ellie Goulding) by Brooklyn Duo.

I originally wanted the Brooklyn Duo cover of Young and Beaufitul (Lana del Rey) but my mom said it sounded depressing lol. I just think it's beautiful.

Our parents were seated first (my brother escorted my mom), and then our officiant walked in with my 12 yo niece who was lighting our chalice at the beginning of our ceremony and who carried our rings. The song we used for this part of the processional was an instrumental version of 'Tis A Gift To Be Simple. That song has played at every wedding and funeral for my mom's family. My husband walked in next with his BM. The bridesmaids (including my MOH) and remaining GM walked in pairs. Then my flower children (my niece and nephew) walked in. The song we used for my husband and the WP was Welcome to Jurassic Park (from the movie soundtrack). I walked down to a classical guitar version of Storybook Love by Matthew Lister. I almost used Piano Guys' A Thousand Years for the WP and Jonathan Cain's Bridal March for me.

Yes, guests of honor escorted to their seats are part of the processional. Try this:

FH escorts his Mom to her seat then takes his place next to your officiant

MOB is ecorted to her seat by family member/usher

Wedding party in 4 pairs (decide whether you want Best Man and Maid of Honor first or last)

    Ring Bearer

    Flower Girl

Guests either "All rise." or "Please remain seated."

Karli (looking awesome) escorted by ______ or flying solo.

Run this past your officiant or Day of Coordinator. Best wishes!

HitchedbyMV I love how you laid that out!!! lol.

Seeing how everyone has had their own unique way of doing everything makes me feel better about it. I'm pretty old school and have so worried about keeping everything "traditional." But let's face it, there's not much that's traditional these days. Thank you everyone for the advice and ideas!!!!
