Ceremony outside/wedding inside- invite wording

Jillissa, on March 22, 2021 at 10:18 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6
Hi-
My ceremony and reception will be held at the same location but my ceremony is going to be outside just across from my reception venue. Wondering how I should let me guests know? I plan to have this information on my website as well but a lot of my guests are not tech savvy so I did not know if I should include a blurb in the invitations that state this?

Has anyone had a similar situation?

If it's at the same location, just list one address. You do not need special instructions to let guests know it's outdoors.. Please trust them as adults.

You could be very blunt about it "5pm outdoor ceremony followed by indoor reception"

Honestly though most people should be okay and as adults be able to dress for the weather. The only problem that could arise if a guest is wearing shoes that would sink in grass.

I agree that as a guest I would want to know for footwear, bringing sunglasses or a sweater, etc. I would add an insert card into the invites

We're in the same situation (ceremony outside, reception inside).

Since we have a wedding website, I'm just putting the link on our invitations and having it say: "for more wedding information, please visit our wedding website". There's a FAQ portion and a Details portion and on both of those we addressed the topic!

Ex: "We will be having an outside ceremony, followed by an indoor reception. We expect it to be a bit chilly, so please dress accordingly."

I also have the parking situation on there since it's on a large grassy field. That way our guests that wear heels will know to expect to park and walk on grass when they first arrive.

I am doing the same thing for mine! I'm having everyone RSVP via the website as well, so they will be able to see/have access to the ceremony/reception information. I also put a note in our invitation that let guests know where to RSVP/get updates with our URL (they're business cards from Vistaprint and we got them for $15).

We included a details card in our invitation suite. And used wording, in the details card, like ‘ceremony in the garden of [venue]’ and ‘dinner and dancing in the ballroom of [venue]’. As a guest I like to know these things so I can pick proper shoes and wear sunscreen or bring a jacket/sweater/wrap.
