Ceremony options!

Emma, on July 10, 2020 at 10:31 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 16

Which would you prefer, in addition to having the option to attend in person?
A. Having the option to attend a wedding via Facebook liveB. Having the option to attend a wedding via zoomD. Having the ceremony recorded and being sent a copy of it
As long as our state approves gatherings then everyone on our guest list will be invited. That being said my dads side of the family lives out of state and I know they won’t be able to attend. We also have quite a few elderly guest that we are aware probably won’t come due to safe (understandably!)

I think I would go with Zoom because I feel I could better control who can view vs. Facebook live. I don't think I'd want to receive a recording later Smiley winking

My biggest problem with saying yes to zoom is that I dont know if my grandparents will know how to do it. They are both very active on Facebook though. If we did Facebook I would make a private event for it.

I would prefer Zoom. You never know until you ask so I'd ask to see if they know how to use it. Do you have any family near your grandparents?? Maybe they can go over and show them how to use it if they don't know already and they can just stay with your grandparents and watch your wedding.

Unfortunately I don’t. Even if I did they wouldn’t go though. They have been staying at home since covid got bad where they are. If they got sick it could easily take them out 😢

I would go zoom versus FB. I think FB would make it to impersonal.

We looked at all of those options, and with elderly, not tech-savvy family members, we went the record and post route. I uploaded it to YouTube as an “unlisted” video so only people with the link can view and it worked great! All anybody had to do was click the link we sent them and we had no issues.

Oh man! Understandable. I would still ask to see if they've ever used Zoom or know how to use it otherwise like you mentioned, you should just do a fb live video. I never knew you could make it private so that's news to me lol.

We are doing Facebook live through a private Facebook group. Our videographer recommended this way over Zoom, so that’s what we are going with.

I think zoom just because it's more private than facebook.

I would be careful using Zoom because it is very easy for people to hack in to "meetings". There have been quite a few cases of people hacking in to peoples video meetings on zoom and exposing themselves etc. I would go with Facebook live. You can make a group on Facebook and only invite certain people to it and they will be the only ones to see the live if you go live in that group.

I’d prefer a Facebook invite with the live being streamed through there. That way you can still specifically invite people and control you can view the live feed. My cousin just did this and it worked out very well.

If you’re going to use Facebook live, do it in a private group so random people can’t tune it. It also helps avoid issues with using copyrighted music.
Personally, I’d prefer Zoom because it’s more private/personal and can be password protected.

I have heard many horror stories about Zoom not being as secure as is advertised from people who have used it. Not everyone is on Facebook anymore either but it seems like a better route if you can provide clear instructions for how to view the video privately.

Personally, I don’t have a Facebook account. I deleted it after 10 years and haven’t regretted it since.
I’d go for zoom because you can always record the ceremony and share the video with everyone after the fact. You can also pin your ceremony to the screen so it’s big and your guests won’t be distracted by each other.

I would prefer if attending is not an option to go zoom virtual. I use it for school and attending 1 wedding zoom works amazingly love!
