I was just wondering if anyone has had a professional photographer for JUST their ceremony and not at the reception. I'm on a crazy tight budget and didn't know if this would work or not. I really just want someone to give me the good professional grade pics I want of me coming down the aisle, the ceremony, family shots and stuff like that. I have some amature photogs in the family that would be able to take pics afterwards. I will also be having a few friends around with their video cameras so I feel that the actual pics aren't as important for the reception and anyway I think having family/friends take some pics during the reception will be more fun and we might get some really good shots....has anyone heard of doing this??

    Hi Muffin!

I am a wedding planner in Yuma, Arizona. If I can help you with your planning please let me know. I am hosting a Bridal Open House at the Holiday Inn (across from the mall) on Friday May 15th from 5pm-9pm. I know your wedding isn't in Yuma but it would be fun to do something "weddingish"

I have been contracted to just cover the ceremony. There is nothing wrong with that at all. If that is what you can afford, that is the most important part of the day and that is the part you will want to have professionally done. Maybe you might want to consider having the photographer cover the beginning of the reception if you can (your entrance as a couple, the first dance, the best man/maid of honor toasts) if you can.

Good luck for your future together.

This a really funny but sad story. I know a bride that bought disposable cameras at a discount for her wedding. The disposable cameras she bought were on sale after new years and on the camera boxes it said happy new years. She didn't care they were on sale and she was on a budget. She put the cameras on the tables, guest took pictures and afterwards she had the pictures developed. The only thing is when she go the pictures back every photograph had happy new years going across the bottom of the picture.

There is a reason why people hire wedding photographers. If your on a budget post on craigslist or find a student. Many times students are looking to build their portfolio so may be they'll do it for free.

My name is James Mlodynia and I have been photographing outdoor events, including weddings of 100 guests or less, there are others like myself that have been involved in digital photography on a non-pro level, this is not what we do for a living. Many of us are retired but have been photographing events for some time. I have a listing on BARK.com under James Mlodynia Photography and work in the Hudson Valley area of New York State. I do a few events a year to help off set the cost of having a large amount of camera equipment.
