Ceremony Musicians - Music Students?

I am really wanting a violinist for my ceremony and a pianist for cocktail hour (there is a grand piano in the room where cocktail hour will be held). Each one will be playing for no more than an hour and from what I have seen from the professional musicians in our area (Palm Beach FL) this would be substantial $$$. I am not taking anything away from what they are worth, I am sure they are worth the money and if I wasn’t on a budget I wouldn’t be concerned.

Has anyone hired local music students from a college or music school? If so, how did you find them? Did you contact the school directly?
