Ceremony Music

Maria, on September 4, 2019 at 1:05 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 2

I go to meet with the guy playing the piano for our wedding next week, and I need suggestions on songs that are appropriate to play for when the bridal party walks down and when I walk down the aisle. It is a full Catholic wedding and I am confused on what songs are normally played

Here are some good ones and some traditional ones. They’ll probably only allow religious/classical pieces.
    processional: Canon in D
    Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring
    Arioso by Bach
    Air on the G String
    Water Music by Handel
    Bridal Chorus by Wagner
    Unity:
Ave Maria by Bach or Schubert
    Be Thou My Vision
    Recessional: Rondeau by Mouret
    La Rejouissance by Handel
    Wedding March by Mendelssohn

    Hey Maria!

Does your pianist have experience playing for religious or Catholic weddings? You could definitely ask for suggestions of songs that they have played before, and this might be a great way to get some songs that you haven’t heard before.

There are still so many songs that you can choose from for a Catholic wedding, so don’t feel like you have a limited selection. Do you prefer strictly classical music, or something a little different?

Do your song choices have to be approved by your church or priest?
