Ceremony Music

Nicole, on September 19, 2019 at 1:42 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 7
I am getting married next week and I just got the price back from our venue for the speakers and one mic for the ceremony. I about died when they said $800 for a 30 mins ceremony. Does anyone have any ideas or have done their own music? It’s outside, only 30 people. Thanks in advance.

A violinist would reasonably charge between $150-300, still better than $800. I’m a violinist and someone tried to quote me $450 for ceremony only...that’s definitely overpriced for one person. And I think your venue is out of line on that one.

We bought a speaker with microphone and Bluetooth capability from Costco for $100 and will have our friend press play for each processional song. I think for 30 people something like that wouldn't be a bad idea.

We are having our DJ provide the ceremony music along with a microphone and speakers. It was 125 extra, which i didn't think was too bad. Maybe reach out to your DJ if you are having one to see what their services would be.

There are businesses that would rent cheaper speaker systems if that's what you mean

My DJ wanted an extra $400 for the ceremony. Were just going to purchase a bluetooth speaker and microphone and have a assigned family member control the music

We got married on the beach and didn’t want to pay a lot for the music so we had 2 large Boom speakers and we played music off the Bluetooth on our phone. It worked fine.

Peggy there are so many things you've said that I'd like to respond to....

#1 Some Violinist are really overpriced which is why I'm having such difficulty with securing one. you sound like the one I was going to use. he was charging me $150.00 for about an hour and a half to two hours. I thought that was very kind.

#2 It's amazing the cost for some of the extras that the venue keeps coming up with. I would find someone to use their phone and a discreet Bluetooth well placed for maximum volume without being obvious.

#3 I utilized one of the music equipment stores in my area for the extras and I found them to be very reasonable.
