Ceremony music questions?

So my fiancé and I get married 2 months from tomorrow. We are stuck on music for our ceremony. I have a few questions...


We are having a formal wedding at a very nice resort with a modern take on a classic and timeless wedding. I am stuck on ceremony music..... everyone I know says to use an acoustic or instrumental version of the songs we like, but we don’t care for most of them and like the originals with the lyrics. Is it tacky to not use any instrumental/acoustic song for a formal wedding?
Also, we are stuck on which songs, I’m having a hard time deciding between one for all of them and one for me? Or just one for all of us? Did you do one or two songs?

    I'm personally going 2 songs for our processional.
    I don't think it's tacky at all to walk down to a song with lyrics. My best friends walked down the aisle with her husband to a softer version of "Halo" by Beyonce and absolutely everyone was in tears. It was so magical and perfect for them.

    I prefer instrumentals, but I don’t think there’s anything wrong with using songs with lyrics. We used one song for our wedding party and one for me.

    My best friend did one song for all of us and just planned it out that the crescendo was when she walked in. They did an beautiful instrumental version of Jurassic Park theme song. I thought they were kidding at first but no joke, that’s what we walked in to.

    It's your wedding you should do what you like! I prefer instrumentals/strings so that's most likely what we're going to do.


    My friend used originals with vocals in her wedding and it was beautiful just the same.

    I would go with 2 songs and honestly, the words don’t take away from the formal style, it adds to the modern twist and to me shares meaning behind the song with everyone at the ceremony as the lyrics tell a story you had in mind.

    If you’re a Disney fan, there’s an album called Disney Fairy Tale Weddings that is absolutely beautiful. It’s all instrumental. Also Piano Guys have done a lot of covers of a lot really great songs.
