Ceremony first and party later

Nycbride, on December 24, 2022 at 10:44 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 3
My fiancé and I are having two events and I want to hear thoughts. It won’t be two weddings, but will be one small and intimate wedding, like a semi-elopement this upcoming summer, and then a party to celebrate the following spring. No ceremony, but a large celebration to mark our dating anniversary and bring more friends and family together. Both will be in New York City. Does that make sense? Sound like a good idea?

It's common now, thanks covid!, for people to have a smaller intimate ceremony and a celebration later. I am confused on why you would be celebrating your dating anniversary and not celebrating your wedding?

I think it depends on what you mean by a semi-elopement. If you plan on inviting some, but excluding others I could see where this could be hurtful to those not invited especially because the purpose of getting married is to actually witness the ceremony.

We plan on doing the same. Small(ish) ceremony in Italy. And then a big reception/cocktail style party in NY.
