Ceremony details for already married?

Viktoria, on July 15, 2021 at 4:17 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 10
Hi all! My husband and I eloped on our original wedding date due to covid. But now we are having the party and ceremony with everyone this august. I’m sure other couples are doing this too. My question is….for the ceremony… Are you doing rings? We already have ours obviously and I feel like we can do our vows and all that but we don’t need to exchange rings? I’m not sure what to do as this is kind of an odd situation. Ideas and Input are appreciated

You could always take them off before the ceremony and "re-exchange" during the ceremony! That's what my husband and I originally planned on doing before we decided that we only want a reception now.

We had a little covid wedding. If we have a bigger thing, I was thinking of exchanging ring dishes or jewelry cleaner

What you are describing is a vow renewal. Be honest with your guests that you are already married or it will backfire. You don’t need to exchange rings.

Hi ! There's a lot of other rituals that you can include, not necessarily the ring exchange.

There's a sand ceremony, ribbons, candles, time capsule, planting a tree...

This! Or if you’re just trying to celebrate with everyone, why bother with a ceremony at all? Just have the party/reception.

Following! We will not be exchanging rings but will be exchanging our own written vows which we did not get to do when we eloped. I haven’t really looked into how our ceremony will go but for sure we are exchanging vows, and doing 2 unity type rituals (one from mexican culture and one from Indian culture). I honestly dont know what else will be in the ceremony, Im sure our pastor will talk a little but thats about it. I want it to be less than 30min.

I dont know about OP, but for me the ceremony is still important. I still want to have our church ceremony like we originally planned, I still want my moment to walk down the aisle & exchange our written vows.

We just had our postponed ceremony/reception two weeks ago. We got married on our original date in September with just close family members. For the bigger ceremony, we just took off our rings right before the ceremony and gave them to the best man so we could re-exchange them. I was concerned that the ceremony this time around would feel fake and like I wouldn’t care since we were already married but I 1000% recommend going through with it! It was so different this time around being in front of all of our family and friends and with our bridal party. Our whole family knew we were already married and no one ever questioned the rings being re-exchanged!
