Ceremony chairs

Karli, on June 9, 2019 at 10:43 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 7
There’s a venue that I’m interested in for my ceremony. We have 175 people. However, even when someone has this amount, they say they only use 100 chairs because apparently people end up standing. I’m not sure how I feel about this and was wondering if anyone has had something like this at their wedding and if it was a problem or not?

No way. Every butt needs a seat. Do they typically just use 100 chairs, or is there only enough room for 100 chairs? Sounds like an excuse to me.

Nope. I’ve never seen guests stand at a wedding. The venue probably only has 100 chairs, or doesn’t want to rent more. If you have 175 guests, you need 175 seats.

Sounds like the venue is being cheap to me. Every guests deserves a chair. Nobody wants to stand the entire wedding ceremony. They are crazy to think they would get away with that. lol

My venue manager aka my future SIL, said the same thing but I’m sticking to my guns and asking for a chair for every booty....plus we’re planning on having a blessing said before the buffet opens....so I’d like everyone (at least most) to be sitting at least for a moment.

Have a chair for everyone if it’s possible. I’ve been to a wedding where they expected everyone to bring their reception chair to the ceremony area and people just ended up standing. You could hardly see or even hear with everyone moving around each other. Also, we had people running back to grab chairs for older family members. If you limit seating at the very least reserve seats and make it clear that elderly get a seat over your friends that can stand for much longer. You’d think that’s common decency but it’s not nowadays. The last wedding I went to had just enough for everyone which meant some groups got split up but it was still perfect. A much calmer atmosphere than the other wedding.

I’ve never seen someone stand for the ceremony with the exception of the bridal party and the bride/groom. It seems like they are just being lazy, I would insist on 1 chair per person.
