Ceremony Attire

ReNita, on May 30, 2019 at 1:24 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 27

Hey lovelies! I would like everyone's opinion on something. So I have been thinking of changing outfits at the reception after the food and dances. Mom seems to think that's doing too much. I'm considering it for comfort and just to basically relax. Thoughts? What are you doing (or did you do) for your reception? Thanks!

A lot of people have a "reception dress". I have a fitted gown so I am considering it myself. My only dilemma is that my mom bought my dress for me and it was over a thousand dollars. I'm afraid I would hurt her feelings if I changed into another dress.

We are having an after party so then I will change (probably into sweat pants LOL). If you want a second dress It's pretty common today. I don't think it's too much at all

That's exactly how I feel! My dad was supposed to buy my dress but all of a sudden couldn't so mom was just like here I got it covered (parents aren't together). I don't want to offend her if I change. But you know maybe that's deep down why she doesn't want me to change. I didn't think of that! If she tells me it doesn't I'm looking for something...maybe even a nice white jumpsuit lol.

I don't think it's doing too much, but it is a personal choice. For me, I can't imagine changing into another dress after paying so much money for the dress I have and only wearing it for a few minutes. But I can understand the reasoning behind wanting to change into another dress.

Having a second dress is super common! If you can afford it, go for it!

Plenty of people change, if you have another dress you want to wear and you'll be more comfortable, then go for it! It's totally your personal preference

I'm not changing. I love my dress and won't ever have the chance to wear it again, so I want to stay in it all night. I get the being comfy thing, but I'm not a fan of the bride being in a short dress or something not-bridal.

I have another dress just in case! I got a deal on it since I picked it up at a second hand store. But it's very pretty high-low dress. Very light weight. But I dont know if i will want to change out of my dress since it's the only day you can wear it.. but it's nice to have the option.

It's more up to you. I'm personally not changing my dress. I love my dress too much and plus I spent a lot of money on it.

I’m in the same boat. I get changing but also don’t understand why you’d buy an expensive dress just to take I off within a couple hours. I spent $700 on my dress, veil, and crinoline plus another $250 for alterations and I’m so excited but also slightly bummed I only get to wear it for one day. I bought a dress that I would be comfortable in for both the ceremony and reception

I sweat when I'm nervous and I know I'm going to get hot taking pictures outside in June so I'm probably going to change unless I feel comfortable still. But I didn't spend thousands on my dress haha. Either way I don't think it matters. I went to a wedding the other day and legit 5 minutes after the dances were done the bride changed into spandex shorts and a tank top and no one thought anything of it.

Honestly, I wore my wedding dress for first look, ceremony, family pics & cocktail hour--plenty of time and photos in my dress! My hubby & I changed into our pirate outfits during cocktail hour then enjoyed dinner & our reception--amazingly fun and way more comfy. Do whatever you wish.

If your dress is restrictive or inconvenient then yes that would be a great idea. If you have a pretty comfy and easy to deal with dress, I'd say the cost will be unnecessary. After my wedding, I changed into a cute purple cocktail dress but continued to wear my veil and wedding shoes. I had a giant ballgown and couldn't fit down the hallway otherwise.

    Do it! Why not?

FH and I are both making changes at the reception.

I have 3 outfits planned: white dress, Vietnamese traditional outfit, and a cake cutting/dancing dress. So wear what you want!

So I asked my mom if she’d feel any kind of way if I changed (since she bought it) and she said she somewhat would but she’s trying to be more understanding. So I’m reconsidering changing.

The dress I was considering is definitely bridal but I’m leaving towards keeping it on to make mom happy. It wasn’t a big deal breaker for me anyways.

She’s awesome! Mine is inside in February so it shouldn’t be too uncomfortable. I’ll just have something just in case I think. But nothing way crazy expensive.

I have a train on my dress too. I’m figuring this all out. This is definitely something you wouldn’t think about unless you’re in the process of planning.

This is what I’m thinking of doing. I want to look at a store just like that. If I find something then okay. If I don’t then I’ll keep my dress on. Like you said...it’s the only day I’ll ever wear it.

This is fairly common and I’d say if that’s what’s in your mind go for it! I planned to do it as well but once I purchased my dress I said hmmm all this money I spent on this dress I’m keeping it on the whole night. I may also wear it again on the honeymoon, on the return flight, while I’m shopping, while I’m doing laundry 😂😂😂 lolol that dress was EXPENSIVE!!
