Ceremony and Reception Map

Patricia, on August 13, 2014 at 5:36 PM Posted in Planning 0 6

Sooo... I will be sending out my invitations next week, I have (I admit) really lagged on the maps. I think because every time I think about it, it stresses me out. I've tried making my own online and it just looks horrible. Here's the thing, our ceremony starts at 1:30pm and our reception starts at 6:00pm. Both are in separate places, they are about 30 minutes away from each other. Should I make 2 separate maps? 2 maps on the same sheet? Does anyone know of a website that's not crazy over priced where I can have the maps created for me and I can just print them out? Please help!

Provide the addresses on a separate card (if its too late to put the address on the invites, perhaps on the back etc), people have gps on their phones.

I honestly thought the same thing, who is really going to use the map? But then everyone keeps telling me I cannot skip out on the map because some people don't know how to use GPS.

I don't think you need to include a map. I have a similar situation. My ceremony is at 11 and reception at 6, I didn't include a map, just the addresses. I think they could look it up beforehand or ask someone if they don't know where it is.

    Here's an option though:

My mom has been really pushy about maps, but I told her it's just not needed. People go places all the time without custom printed maps. People can either print directions ahead of time or else use their cell phones.

If you are having older people who do not use GPS as freely/easily as younger people, or people from out of town, it is really nice of you to enclose some sort of map.

And mind you, I'm older than most of you (51), and I use GPS easily on my phone, but there will be wedding guests of our in their 70s and 80s and I don't expect them to automatically have to learn. For those who say your guests have to use their GPS/phone, are you in an area that reliably covers all service providers? (may not be common, but there are some rural brides on here)

It's just a nice thing to provide, without too much trouble. (and no, I haven't done my map yet, and I dread it, but it is much more considerate to your guests to do that) I am not worrying about putting maps in invitations for every single guest, but for the older ones and out of towners, I am.

Thanks everyone. I'm thinking of just including directions on how to get there for the older guests. I'll print out directions and include them in the invitations.
