Since the venue doesn't provide anyone to move around tables and chairs (like during cocktail hour), we are going to have tables set up so guests will be seated there for both the ceremony and reception.

Has anyone had a wedding like this, and if so do you have any helpful advice on the best way to make it work so everyone can see and is comfortable? Thanks in advance!

Ive been to a wedding like this and I just remember being at the back table far away from the couple, and then having the large empty dance floor ..... I think it just takes away from the intimacy of it.

I've been to 2 weddings like that and it can be very convenient depending on your guest count and setup

My wedding will be like this. We did not want to pay an extra $400 for chairs outside under a tent for only 15 minutes. We are able to have 20 seats on the dance floor for free and everyone else will be at their tables during the ceremony. They do it all the time at my venue and I have a DOC and venue coordinator who will handle the removal of the 20 chairs.

Thanks so much for the input! I unfortunately can't work it out where I could partition any of it off, but I think I would have enough room at the front to remove some chairs and make it into the dance floor.

I was at a wedding where we sat at the table to watch the ceremony. Honestly, it was a little strange but if that's what you have to do, that's what you have to do.

I've been to a wedding like this before. we sat down for the ceremony then got up and mingled for a bit then sat back down. We already knew where we were seated so it was no confusion. The florist or decorators could also do a "flip" of the room too where they move the stuff around in 15-20 min tops. During that time people can talk with a drink , go to the restroom or take pics in the photo booth if you have one

Don't worry too much about it- I had no problem with it! You have to do what you have to do

@Jesikah, we are doing something similar. A few select guests will be in the chapel seating during the ceremony. The staff will move them and set up a sweetheart table for us.

We are doing buffet so we will have salads on the table.
