Centerpieces

Lindsey, on June 12, 2017 at 10:06 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 78

Sorry if this has been asked, I couldn't find any posts

** How are you preventing guests from taking your centerpieces?

-leaving a note underneath to please leave there?..

-hoping word of mouth gets around & asking wedding party/parents to keep an eye out? (who wants to 'keep an eye out' all night though...?)..

-asking your DJ to kindly announce that the CPs are not to be taken?.. (if so, what did/are they saying?)

-or any other ideas...?

thanks!!!! Smiley laugh

I want people to take mine lol. Are you renting? Is that why you don't want them taken? Do people normally take centerpieces?

Some people assume they're entitled to some sort of memento. This is why I'm keeping my wedding guest number low.

I'd have the DJ announce it.

I'm Hispanic and yes, our families and friends will take centerpieces.

I'm not quite sure how you'd address that tactfully

I didn't think people took them?! Both my FMIL & my own mother warned us that people may take them! Smiley amazing (I guess it's like an old tradition??)

We're not renting, we paid for all of them and are arranging them all, they are birdcages & lanterns, which I want to keep 2 of each for decor in our house and the rest we have already arranged for our florist to purchase them off of us, as he rents decor out!...

Why is this a concern? My florist is coming back 10 minutes before our exit to take her glass vases and set the flowers from the centerpieces by the door to be taken by whoever wants them.

I've never seen someone just take a centerpiece without being prompted.

Ah yes, my parents (& FH's) and their friends always take centerpieces too! But we are renting so we'll have announce it in some way as well

I think the DJ announcing it though might seem odd...But maybe not. I have no advice on this....I didn't think people would take them lol.

I'd like to think no one would take them, but now the moms have me worried, they're very cute, as a guest I would personally want one (maybe I'm biased since we made them lol) but I didn't think people would just take them without being told to do so, and since they're not just floral arrangements or anything..

My sister in law was suppose to announce we could take the center pieces at their wedding but that didn't happen...

I think a small note on the table would suffice but only if your in an area that does this. It seems that some people don't "give away" their centerpieces

Have the DJ y.make an announcement that the centerpieces are borrowed and must be returned after the wedding. People are more respectful when they think their actions will affect someone personally, rather than a rental company.

@Lindsey may I ask where you got your lantern and candle? I am doing similar cp's!

Why would I mind if someone takes a centerpiece?

The only weddings I have been to where the centerpieces were taken was because the bride and groom were like here take these.

That seems strange. The only events or weddings I've been to where they want you to take CPs, a mom or someone is going around telling people to take them
