Centerpieces- go big or skip?

In the final stages of planning, centerpieces are killing me. Most of our budget went to guest-focused items like open bar of quality booze, lots of good food, shuttles to the hotel so no one has to drive. I'm maxed to what I can put from each paycheck into the wedding account, and am set on not charging anything. Is it worse to have no centerpieces or really cheap ones? I'm inclined to think they go in the trash so who really cares, and I like several low-budg ones on Pinterest. But then I read comments here like a vase w silk flower & LED lights does not a centerpiece make. So honestly, if you're drinking Gentleman Jack and Sapphire at a table with a cheap Pinterest centerpiece or no centerpiece, how bad are judging me? Each 8-person rectangle table will already feature a piece of my mother's pottery and a laminated ski map in a little holder. (Ski areas instead of table numbers). And it's in a field in the mountains if that helps.

Go low budget. Your guest will remember the food and booze.

I'd ask your venue if they have anything from left-over weddings or offer anything, mine has candles and vases so at least their is something... an empty table wouldn't be best

Maybe think outside the box. How about lanterns with candles? That sounds like it would fit your theme/venue and it would be less expensive than flowers! Oriental trading has different sizes and colors of lanterns - we ordered ours from there to line the aisle, it was $20 for 2. You could probably find them at local stores too.
