I think ten is ok. But I also prefer shorter centerpieces for that purpose also of being able to see the person across the table.

Many people tend to take center pieces I think it would be fine. Center pieces higher off the table look very nice especially when guest arrive and the table is set 😊 I’m sure whatever you chose will be great either way

I would use the shorter vase as you originally planned!

I love the look. I would suggest making one yourself to make sure it doesn’t instruct people talking.

Ten inches should be fine; I think ours about 12" fully assembled.

I always thought tall centerpieces were odd since yes, they do block views. But this look isn't too opaque, so you might be fine.
