Centerpiece opinions

Corrin, on November 20, 2020 at 7:55 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 2 32

I’m working on putting together my own centerpieces since real flowers are so expensive..

I wanted to make sure the table felt full if that makes sense.. I think the flowers themselves turned out okay but I’m not sure which vase to go with. Or if the greenery around the bottom is too much, or if it looks too bare without it?

I’m also worried that 17inch tall centerpieces (the bottom right pic) may be too tall?
Love to hear any opinions!

I don’t think you need the greenery at the bottom, and I like both vases. I say use both vases to add some dimension to the room/space. 😊

Try to keep them 12" or lower so they don't block views across the table. Maybe add tealights around the bottom.

Do you know how high or low the ceiling of your reception venue is? I think both vases work great, and I love either the 10 inch version or the 17 inch version (the two extremes, haha). With the middle two heights, I feel like you run a higher risk of interrupting people’s line of vision to a greater extent. And to my initial question, I understand if you have a higher ceiling venue, a shorter centerpiece will make the room feel more empty whereas a taller centerpiece in a high-ceiling venue will fill it out more. And vice-versa: taller centerpiece in low ceiling venue = crowded. Low centerpiece in low ceiling venue = pleasantly full. But really in the end, you should just choose the option you like the best! 😁

Thanks!!! This is helpful. It’s a pretty high ceiling so maybe low ones wouldn’t be best suited. I can’t seem to get a consensus about which one is best from friends/family, but it sounds like they all at least look okay. I think I like 17inch most too - was just worried about blocking peoples view across the table.

    Appreciate your response!!

I didn’t think about doing both, but now that you mention it, I don’t see why not!! Thanks!

I like the top two. But I think you can consider mixing them. Have some taller and some shorter. It’s looks better if you have different height so they don’t look flat in photos.

Dusty rose is the main color. Lots of white and blush and greenery in the florals that I’m buying (arch flowers and bouquets)

Honestly, the best judgement is for you and another person to sit opposite, and by scrunching down or "sitting tall" see if they block your vision. Then walk around the table, and see if someone standing at the table to talk, like the B and G, could be seen by all people not blocked by the flowers. ... 🙂I like the looks of either the low or high one without greenery. But think a round colored cloth, or lace circle, should be under each and 2-4 inches show around the border. Without adding height. Just definition, setting off the base of the vase from the table/ tablecloth.

Wow wow! Thank you! This is incredibly helpful! Sitting across from each other, it looks like the only one in the way is the 17inch (tallest with the greenery). Our tablecloths are going to be a very light almost dusty blue - do you think the lace circle would still be a good option? I’ll give the definition thing a shot and try to find something to go underneath! Appreciate your thoughts a bunch 💕

I also have white flowers but I was afraid they looked too fake.

I like the 10 in the most. The 15 is very pretty, but I agree that they might be too tall.
