ceiling drapery

Hello, all! Smiley smile

I am trying to price out decorations, and have decided I want some kind of ceiling drapery; similar to what is shown in the picture I attached. I was thinking that it would be smarter to not only rent the fabric, but to hire the company to set it up and take it down as well. After spending hours googling companies in the area (no luck at all) I found a website that I would purchase the fabric and supplies from, they would ship it right to me, and it comes with a DIY video on how to set it up. Doesn't sound too bad, right? Wrong. They want around $1,000. No way can I afford spending that much JUST for the ceiling, AND have to set up myself. There's gotta be a cheaper way!

So I did some other searching and found this website from a bride who really did do it herself:

I was hoping to hear from anyone who has actually had this kind of ceiling decor, how you made it happen, and any advice you would like to provide?

My venue said they will do it for $600. I'm like "No way!" Honestly, if that's your venue, I think it would still look nice without it. If you figure out how to do it yourself, let us know though!

There is a reason this costs so much; it costs a lot, it takes time, and it's dangerous; your venue may not even let you do it (or attach anything anywhere) Frankly, I don't think the draping in the link does a thing for that room except to draw attention to the ceiling.

This is clearly a case of paying for it if you want it.

I did it for a friend's wedding and used bolts of tulle for the draping fabric. We were able to tuck strings of Christmas lights inside the tulle and it looked really nice. Hanging it all depends on the type of ceiling your venue has. It is helpful to have clear fishing line and figure 8 ceiling hooks to hang the tulle.

I should have posted this before: I have already spoken to the venue about it, and they allow it. If I hire their Day Of Coordinator, she will help with set up. Here is a picture of the room. Not sure how I'll attach it to the ceiling yet
