Cathedral length veil for reception??

Jennifer future Mrs. K-H, on July 24, 2019 at 12:55 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8
Hi girls. I originally purchased a fingertip length veil from the same boutique when I went to pick up my dress. It's ivory with scalloped embellished edges, like my dress. Later on, I felt it wasn't dramatic enough and I didn't feel "bridal". I kind of felt like I was going for 1st communion! lol. I then got a gorgeous 2 tier cathedral length veil that perfectly complements my dress, (I was in tears when I tried it on with the dress and didn't want to take it off!) Needless to say I love my new veil and can't wait to walk down the aisle in it. My question is what to do with my shorter veil? Of course I first thought just to sell it. But now I'm thinking I may want to wear a veil at the reception (at least through first dance, father/ daughter and cake cutting. I'm changing into a traditional ethnic dress for the rest of the reception). Are you all wearing your veil at the reception? Would that be practical with a cathedral veil? Should I wear my long veil for the ceremony and my shorter veil for the reception? Thanks in advance for your opinions ladies. Best wishes for your marriage!

I had a fingertip length veil and I took it off the second the ceremony was over and we were done with pictures. People would pull on it when they hugged me and it continued to get in the way. There’s no way I could’ve kept it on thru dinner and dancing.

Wear the shorter on for thee reception if you want to wear both. You could sell or repurpose it, too. Do you have a picture of them for reference?

I agree with Kelly that even wearing a shorter veil will probably annoy you at the reception because people will pull on it accidentally. You might even do so yourself sitting at the table in the chair while you're eating. Plus it might get in your way while you eat. I wore a custom made cathedral veil for my pre-ceremony and first look pictures and during the ceremony itself. I absolutely loved my veil. But I removed it after the ceremony. I definitely do not recommend wearing a cathedral veil during the reception. That is a disaster waiting to happen with people stepping on it and pulling it.

Wearing a cathedral length veil for the reception would be extremely difficult, if not impossible. I suppose you could change into the shorter veil, but it seems like more hassle than it’s worth to wear one veil, change into another, then change your entire outfit. I would go veil-less for the dances.

Agree with Kelly. I kept mine on after the ceremony through cocktail hour and the first dance. I took it off immediately after the first dance. People were pulling on it and stepping on it lol. We took all our photos before the ceremony.

I wore my mom's cathedral length veil (3 layers, including blusher) and took it off after photos, before we entered the reception - had I worn it, it would have been stepped on (not on purpose, but still).

I have a cathedral veil, and I'm planning on wearing it for pictures and the ceremony, but I'll take it off before the reception. It's a really long one, and I don't want it to get stepped on or annoy me when I'm trying to eat and dance!

Oh it'll be a hassle for any kind of veil to be on during reception but I suppose because you're wearing it for a short time and not the entire reception it should be ok.
