My vow renewal is May 2021. When is the best time to start pricing? I’m assuming after the RSVP’s?

They will give you a quote based on your expected guest count and then when you give them your final head count they will gave you a firm price.

I would go ahead and start getting quotes now if you haven’t. 2021 is going to be a busy year for weddings, so if you’re using a traditional catering company they may have limited availability and you’ll want to lock in your date. Most catering, you give your final count around 1-2 weeks before your date, and the final payment is either due then or on the day of the event.

You should look for a caterer way before you have all of your RSVPS. The RSVPs usually aren't due until 2-3 weeks before the wedding.

Absolutely now, you know approx enough that you can speak about pricing and menus and the date. Caterers work in ranges. You want to get locked in via a contract to make sure someone is available on your date in May! You firm up your count and cost when RSVP's come in. Revise your RSVP due date based on the vendors needs. For example, getting some seafood may be a longer lead time and your caterer says they need 3 weeks instead of 10 days. You got this!

I would get quotes now and at least pay a deposit. Typically they will only charge you for your final guest count. And you usually have about 2-3 weeks before the wedding (after the RSVP’s) to pay in full. If you’ve already created a guest list I would get quotes now based off your estimated guest count
