Catering

Interested to hear about less expensive catering options. We are having a smaller beach wedding with ~60 guests. Most caterers charge $25 + per person. We may cater ourselves because it will save use a lot of money but we would be responsible with setting it up which may be the problem. Thanks in advance for any advice or recommendations.

We're in a similar boat. We're thinking large gourmet pizza at current. Our wedding is nice casual.

I contacted a few Mexican restaurants in my area, one was $13pp and the other was $11pp. Very reasonable!

I think it’s just important to compare apples to apples. Make sure each estimate has ALL the things you need—cups, plates, flatware, napkins, linens, warming trays, ice, etc. Look at Italian and Mexican and BBQ—those are the cheapest usually. Also, just in my opinion, it’s worth every penny to have caterers set up
and tear down everything. Weddings are stressful enough! Just something to consider!

Olive Garden starts at $10 per person. Like others have said Mexican or BBQ restaurants may also be that cheap. Please don’t cater yourselves. Professional catering: properly cooked & served food, right temperature, a staff to refill stations, no headache/stress for you or any family members.

Remember if you do it yourself, not only will you have to set up but keep the food hot and clean up yourself. By the time you buy trays/pans burners, plates, cups, forks, spoons napkins, food, drinks and table linens that stuff adds up. Your onthe beach so you have so many affordable options. BBQ, Burgers and hot dogs but professionally catered. kabobs, fresh fruit, veggies and cheese and finger foods. Good Luck

I wish I was paying $25 pp honestly lmao. Catering is so much cheaper than in-house venue food. I am paying a whopping $70-75pp. But I agree with everyone else, keep shopping around there could be cheaper options. Professional catering also leaves everything off your back so you don't have to stress!

For us we can bring in our own food as long as the person has insurance. So what we did was hired a local wedding planner. He is handling all of the setup/teardown of food and hiring of the help. You could hire your own persons to help do the setup and teardown for you. I keep thinking I can do a lot myself but my friends are all telling me to leave it up to others to handle.
