So my venue requires that our caterer have liability insurance coverage which I get is pretty standard but it the contract it also states it must be at a minimum of 1,000,000 dollars. Is this pretty common for most catering companies?

Yes, I found that to be the average for most wedding vendors.

Have worked in the event industry for over 12 years, a million dollar policy is very much the norm from my experience.

I'm not sure if catering liability insurance is different than the venue insurance I had to purchase (including covering alcohol on site), but it was just $64 dollars for two sites, one policy, so not insane cost wise IMO. Hope this helps!
