Hey Ladies,
What type of food do you think would be best for our wedding reception? Do you like traditional, bbq, or other? Let me know what you decided.

For me it depends on what 'traditional wedding food' means to you!

I'm a fan of bbq, and I'm from the South, so it's always a good idea in my book!

If the couple has different cultural backgrounds, I always enjoy that being shown through different cultural dishes. It's a unique and fun way to introduce your loved ones to your culture, as well as honoring it!

As long as you provide something that guests don't pay for themselves, you are fine. Even just cake and punch is acceptable.

What do you consider traditional? Not everyone likes bbq. Obviously you won't find one food that appeals to everyone but you can ask your important people what they like and don't like within your budget. Restaurant catering is going to be your cheapest (non cake only) option and you have a wide variety to choose from: steakhouse, homecooking, Chinese, teriyaki, Mexican, etc.

We both LOVE bbq but decided that people dressed up would prefer something a but less messy. So we plan to do that for the rehearsal dinner - very casual.
We’re doing a mixed grill plated, so everyone gets steak/seafood/chicken. And offering a vegan dish because a few people will want that.

We went traditional for my culture. initially i was going to do american for catering but decided on just going with my cultural food instead which is asian cuisine and that traditionally is a 10 course family style meal

I'm going traditional - a chicken, fish, and vegetarian option. BBQ at a country club doesn't sound too right to me Smiley smile But as a guest, I really don't care as long as there's food!

I think it really depends on the style of your wedding. For a more rustic wedding, BBQ would make sense, but a more formal wedding it would make more sense to serve chicken and steak.

I'm really hoping for breakfast for dinner and donuts instead of cake.

For appetizers we’re having a raspberry & Brie tart served during the cocktail hour. Main course is Beef Peppercorn or Chicken Marsala, spring mix salad with ranch or balsamic vinaigrette dressing, garlic mashed potatoes, steamed veggies & Hawaiian sweet rolls with honey or reg butter. Yummy!

I love the idea of going with seasonal flavors. My fiancé and I are getting married in the fall and are trying to incorporate lots of fresh flavors (think apples, cranberries, pork, etc.) into our menu!

We're foodies, so that's what we're focusing on rather than throwing a big dance party with a dj or band. We specifically told the chef (we're actually just renting out a fancy restaurant) that we didn't want "chicken or beef". So we're doing canapés, then main course is plated with option of duck, venison (very common here), or salmon trout, and each option is plated with their own different sides.

We are doing BBQ but our wedding is not traditional. We are having a laid back casual wedding with lawn games. If you are having a more upscale wedding I'd go with the traditional wedding food. Your guests might not be to happy with getting all messy with BBQ food at a wedding where they are in nice dress clothes.

My fiancee used to work as a server at Classic Catering, he used to go to a wedding every week or so, while working there, and if there's one thing he's learned... he absolutely hates and despises "basic wedding food". So one of the things he absolutely wanted was unique food you wouldn't eat at a typical wedding. Therefore, we decided to hire a food truck, just to have something different.

We are having a late ceremony/reception so we are doing a Fusion Tapas menu. A wide variety of different things just smaller plates. We loved it because there is something for everyone’s taste. Very non traditional
