Hi,

I am not sure if this post should go here, so my apologies if there was a more appropriate place for it. We are in the midst of planning our Oct. 2015 wedding and I am currently talking to caterers. I am wondering if our budget of 1,500 for 60-70 people is realistic? We are wanting very casual, mexican food, buffet style. No frills, probably just a taco bar and chips and salsa. I have been getting a few different quotes that vary wildly and I am just not sure if caterers are laughing because of this small budget...

Any and all advice is welcome! And if you know of some delicious mexican food that caters in SF, I would love to hear about them!

Thanks Smiley smile

Thanks, Lauren! If I can talk my (half mexican) fiancee into BBQ we may look into it but thanks for this! I am definitely more confident it can be done Smiley smile

Check local food trucks for more authentic, fun food!

I like the idea of using a food truck. Some people on here have used them and really seemed happy with their choice. You might be able to locate a caterer to feed that many people on a low budget - just be sure to check out all facets of the company and look for hidden costs. Also factor in an open or limited bar. We paid $100 a plate, but had a smaller wedding with only 45 guests.

Try looking into smaller, family run, restaurants vs caterers. When I had my quinceanera we went with a small family restraint that offered the hot drop off option and it was 1/4 of the price of a caterer. I think your budget is doable, just have to look outside of the box Smiley winking I know really tasty places in Sac. not too familiar with the Bay Area though.

Have you looked into a taco truck??? I'm in San Jose and that very popular for birthday and I even seen one at a baptism. You can probably find some on yelp!
