Catering question

Joshes, on February 15, 2022 at 5:48 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 4

My fiancé and I had our hearts set on food from a friend's restaurant that means a great deal to both of us and, theoretically, offers catering. Unfortunately, they seem unable to drive to the wedding location to serve the food.... (It's about a 2 hour drive, so I understand).

I know this sounds weird, but is it possible to hire a catering company to serve food from a different restaurant? If not, are there companies other than caterers that facilitate hiring servers for wedding receptions?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

At my first wedding, the food was prepared by one particular group and then "job's daughters" (religious youth group) served it. Could you possibly look at getting an outside group to serve it such as a youth group, college students, chef program students? They never charged as it was a volunteer situation but we donated a large amount to their organization and it was still cheaper than having it catered and served by one company.

You may not be able to find a company to do it, but you can definitely find people to just serve. I would check out thumbtack or if you have any nieces, nephews, cousins, etc. in high school or college, they may have friends who will do it!

You can hire people to serve but if I'm understanding correctly they'd need to pick it up too? That might be tricky since it needs to be kept at temperature that long.

Thanks so much for your help! We ended up moving the venue a little closer to the caterer. I appreciate the suggestions though. I'm especially happy to learn about thumbtack!
