Catering or not

Jeanette, on June 18, 2019 at 9:32 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 6
I am in a small pickle. My fiancé is a chef and I have him somewhat free reign on the food part of the wedding.
I kinda do and dont want catering.
What are the benefits of catering?
Is it more expensive to cater or have a venue what does the cooking?

I would rather go with catering, instead of doing it yourself. There’s so much going on around your wedding day it could just add to the stress. Also, doing it yourself- even if you’re fiancé is a chef- there are good chances of food borne illness and people just getting sick.

Ours was included with our Venue package. It was much cheaper this way.
I priced it out both ways...we are saving about a thousand dollars.

I think you would have to shop around and see. Our venue included catering. I honestly don't know if it was cheaper or not, but sure was less hassle. Their basic package includes open bar, cocktail hour and multi course dinner, tables, linens, chairs, etc. so I didn't have to go around worrying about how many table cloths to rent or find vendors for silverware and all that. We had a food tasting and everything was delicious to.

I would go with some kind of catering service if it is not included with your venue. That was one of the requirements when choosing our venue, that it was all inclusive including catering and open bar.

I agree, shop around and price it out. Our venue included a bunch of stuff, and I'm not sure if it IS cheaper, but it sure is less stressful.

Well, I would suggest you to go for catering which is not too expensive and comes under your budget. And yes in my opinion catering is an important part so as the food taste and food quality. At least try to search for some good hotels proving quality food and catering services with affordable rates. Check out for some good event planners. Last tuesday I attended my friend's wedding reception at The Addison and I was amazed to see their catering services, they are so professionals in their field. Plus the rates are also affordable over there.
