We have a very strict budget of $4,000 for catering for around 175 people. But I am finding this to be basically impossible. We had found one caterer willing to work with us, but then got a quote for around $7,500 after labor, tax, and gratuity. Our venue requires a licensed caterer or else I would...

We have a very strict budget of $4,000 for catering for around 175 people. But I am finding this to be basically impossible. We had found one caterer willing to work with us, but then got a quote for around $7,500 after labor, tax, and gratuity.

Our venue requires a licensed caterer or else I would have someone I know bring in all the food. Any tips on having a nice catering menu (NOT BBQ - no offense to those doing BBQ) while keeping it under $4,000 out-the-door?

Thank you for your help!

I dont know where you live, but you might have to cut guest list... my FH and i got super lucky and found an amazing caterer who is doing our brunch wedding for only 1500 for 110 people... but like i said, we got super lucky. i would say keep digging, or maybe contact good local restaurants in your area? a lot of times they will cater your event for a lot less than catering companies will. if that doesnt work, to the guest list chopping block you may have to go...

As many suggested I recommend cutting the guest list. I had to cut mine and at first it was hard. I would love to invite my entire family but it was not possible. I do not think it is possible to get the quality you want for any more than 100 people max.

I know catering is an important part of a wedding, but y'all spend way to much on food!!

We are doing a breakfast buffet for 70 people. It's $12.95 per person and fees are an extra $300. It's not super fancy but it's our favorite food and our total will be under $1500 for everything!
