Catering and Average Prices for Shenandoah Valley

Melanie, on April 23, 2020 at 1:46 PM Posted in Planning 0 4

My fiance and I are looking to have a ceremony in Shenandoah National Park and a reception in the surrounding area. Venues we have considered all have functional catering kitchens.

What is the range of cost for catering for about 100 people?

Do you have any recommendations for caterers?

Any places offer good discounts or deals for the Shenandoah Valley area?

We are very flexible in our wedding date and as far as catering, interested in many options. My fiance particularly likes a seasonal menu, maybe farm to table (although not required), and a plated meal. We understand this is more expensive so we would be willing to look at other menu options!

Any advice is appreciated!

Hello!! My FH and I are getting married in NOVA and have gotten quotes for 100 ppl anywhere from $18,000 to $7,000(no rentals). We have decided to go with Downtown Catering from Front Royal. They do not provide rentals but can be the liaison in ordering them. Our quote is a little less than $7000 from them but we have some extra cost that you might be able to cut out like an extra bartender ect. But we saved on a wedding cake since we are doing desserts with them ($350 vs $800). The owners at Downtown Catering are the nicest couple and we got the best family vibe from them when we did our tasting. And their food was amazing! Good luck! The catering was WAY more than what I initially expected!

Also.. we are doing a buffet bc of our venue. A plated dinner there is more difficult since it’s two floors and the prep room on the 1st reception on second. To do plates they would of set up a curtain in the foyer area and we just did not like that idea. The big cost difference between the two is going to be staffing. You can do a buffet with 1 server per 20-30 people, 1-2 to man the buffet and 1 kitchen staff but with plated you need extra servers to deliver dishes and buss everything in a timely manner between courses and extra kitchen staff to plate in a timely manner. But any catering company’s can give you price difference.
