Caterers in nyc

Hi all! We’re planning to get married August 2021 and I’ve been looking for caterers. I received a $20,000 quote the other day and was blown away. That’s just for the food. The wedding venue and bar are all a separate price. So, I was wondering if anyone could recommend a catering company that is less pricey. Thanks!!

Catering in NYC is very pricey.
What's your venue, and is there a reason they don't have a caterer of their own? What's your budget, your guest list, your dietary needs?
We chose an all inclusive venue because the cost differential was so stark - are you *locked* into your venue?

Thanks for your response! We’re going to get married at the Weylin. The venue has a significant meaning to me because of the location and I just fell in love with it. It’s an event space and they only have a set caterer if you have over 150 guests. We are at 130 and we are doing their intimate wedding package. Their preferred caterer is expensive, so it’s better that I am able to find my own. I just need to find someone that is affordable.

We got married at Sunset Terrace, on Chelsea Piers. They have a caterer they work with exclusively, and the food was really good. They are Neuman's Kitchen Events and Catering - out of LIC.
I highly doubt they'll be less expensive than your quote - our guest list was higher than yours, but we had a lot of declines. We ended up with 80+ people, and our venue/catering bill was only just shy of $20k.
It's just ... NYC is expensive.
