Caterer Tips?

Alyssa, on March 14, 2022 at 8:35 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6
We’re having a local restaurant cater our wedding. We’re picking up all the food from them on the day of and having a buffet. How much would I tip the actual restaurant?

I probably sound like a terrible person, but what are you tipping them for? They aren't delivering or serving which is usually where i see tipping come in

Any "take-out" should still be tipped 20%. Someone has to take the order, prepare and package all of the meals.

Yeah, what's the tip for? There's no service. I would not tip a percentage. I'd keep it at $20.

I wouldn't tip them if I'm picking it up unless it was from a moms and pops shop ($20). Very sweet of you too think to tip them. For how many people?

The restaurant has to make the food look presentable and appetizing for an unveiling. Even a cheese plate is designed a certain way. So, yes I would tip them ($20 min). If they let you borrow chafing dishes, sterno fire, or serving utensils, tip even more for saving you time finding these yourself. If they supply main ingredients including nuts or other guest allergy concerns (upon your asking), for food labels, I would tip them even more.
