Caterer Proposal

Kelly, on June 10, 2019 at 6:37 PM Posted in Planning 0 4
I would like to make a proposal to the caterer, what information and how much detail do I go into? How long did it take you to make your catering proposal?

I’ve never heard of making a proposal to a vendor. We asked what the different options were for food and pricing.

Yeah, I asked them for a suggested menu and a quote after providing a brief description of the event and our meal preferences. If anything, in business terms, it was a request for proposal.

Have never heard of a proposal for a vendor. We just went to different ones, talked food, pricing, and what's included. Then took a few days to discuss with FH, and we made a decision. Called that vendor, made the deposit and the date was booked. Emailed the others, thanked them for their time and help, and told them we decided to go in another direction.

Our caterers gave US proposals, not vice versa. I told them what I was looking far as far as events (cocktail hour, dinner), how many guests, style of food we were looking for (buffet vs plated vs family style), and a couple other things we were looking for or deciding between (things like maybe a champagne toast, maybe wine service with dinner, maybe a dessert ....maybe none of these things) , ideas of the proteins we were interested [and how many we might like to offer] and a couple other important details (making sure they could deal with a couple dietary restrictions).

with that information, they gave us a proposal- in fact a couple proposals— like quotes with each of the “maybes” to give us a well rounded understanding of costs and what they could be
