Give an exact number. The only time the caterer rounds up is with buffet.

For a buffet you should be fine to give whatever number rsvps! Some people don’t eat as much and some eat more so it will even out! Hopefully no one just shows up! That would throw off the table assignments! If you think that might happen, leave room as some of the tables in case you need to squeeze in last minute people

Please give as close to the exact count as possible. Caterers usually have a 10-15% cushion for buffets but if you have flaky guests that cushion can disappear quickly if you gave a lower number.

If someone just shows up, feel free to tell them they are welcome to stay for drinks and hanging out but there isn't a seat or food for them. Drives me crazy when people can't do a simple RSVP!
