Caterer doesn't provide drinking glasses!!

kscha925, on March 7, 2013 at 7:00 PM Posted in Planning 0 14

So we like everything about the caterer we are considering, but we just found out they don't provide drinking classes. They can provide plastic cups free of charge, but that's it.

I know we can rent glasses, but then we have to wash them and take care of them ourselves. Does anyone have any alternatives on what to use????

Is the caterer different than the actual venue?

See if your caterer is willing to handle the rental and then pass an upcharge on to you?

Could you get cheaper glasses and use them as part of your favors? That way you dont have to worry about them afterward, and save on paying for those and favors?

    Yes the caterer is different.

Does anyone know if there are fake glasses you can buy somewhere? Sort of like the fake china caterers offer?

My caterer will be bringing in rentals, including glasses for the tables and special bar glasses. We will get martini glasses, margarita glasses and tom collins glasses for mojitos. The caterer will bring them in from the rental place and take care of all of it.

Depending on how big your guest list is, i've seen an idea where they provided a glass for each guest with a chalkbords label on them and they also acted like favors.

They have their own linens but not glasses? Are you having a bar?

Yes we are having a DIY bar..we are buying the drinks

They have their own linens and china dishes. For some reason they don't have their own china glasses...

Right now I'm searching for somewhere to buy polycarbonate glasses, but I don't know where to get them for cheap.

Yeah that seems really odd. It's as though they think people like to eat their food without something to wash it down with.

They usually do pig roasts and casual events...but even so, they should have wine glasses or something.

I have no idea what to do other than use white plastic cups...
