Long story short. I had to go with an approved vendor that showed a lot of red flags in the beginning because my venue made it very clear that the company was reputable and did a lot of events at the venue. An outside caterer was not an option. This was in January.

So this past weekend I got an email from our venue stating that they understand I might have booked a caterer they used to recommend and they wanted me to know they have not been recommending him for awhile due to numerous complaints at events. They did not know he was still doing events on their property but apparently he had done one the week prior and completely ruined the event. They wanted me to let them know if he was my caterer. Of course he is. So I call them and they stated I could still use him even though he is not approved but here were the complaints

First off did you sign a contract? Find it. Then go talk to a lawyer

That is absolutely unacceptable! I would tell the venue that they need to pay for and find you a new caterer that's ridiculous! Stick your ground on this one that is totally unacceptable!!!! I would be furious! This is so their fault.

    This is bad.

Could be worse, your wedding catering could have been ruined badly.

Others have given you good advice.

Find a lawyer And get a consultation just to hear their advice but it's not gonna be worth it to pay a lawyer to sue him unfortunately. I'm so sorry you have to deal with this your wedding is exactly a month before mine I would be losing my s***! Also I'm not a confrontational person but I would not stop until that venue paid for my caterer there is no freaking way I would come out of pocket for that deposit. Also look to see if you have any emails or any proof of the venue reassuring you about him that could help your case when speaking to the venue people about paying for a new caterer
